Coronation of King George V and Queen Mary

The village festivities to celebrate the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary took place on Friday 23rd June 1911, the day after the coronation. There was a procession, a meat tea and sports for the villagers.


Villagers gathered at the Collins' Manor Farmhouse for the celebrations.

Note: This photo appears in "Chitterne, a Wiltshire Village" wrongly annotated as "Miss Collins' Tea Party". The connection with the coronation in 1911 has been discovered since the book was published.
